January 25, 2012 The Undergraduate Student Government is seeking matriculated undergraduates in the College of Arts and Sciences to fill vacancies in the USG Senate for the remainder of the academic year. Senators are obligated to represent the concerns and opinions of their constituents while proposing, drafting, debating, and voting on legislation and resolutions. Senate Club/Organizations in Violation of the Financial Bylaws
Thomas Kirnbauer |
January 18, 2012 The following clubs have been found to be in violation of the USG Financial Bylaws:
Asian American Journal, Gaming League, Habitat for Humanity, STAC, Kumdo Club, Paintball Club, Taiko Tides, Culinary Club, Social Global Awareness, Korean Student Association, Enduring Freedom Alliance, West Indian Student Organization, MArine Science Club, Meteorology Club, Philiosophy Club, Organization of Actuarial Students, Animated Perspectives, Computing Society, ASME.
In Section 118 Subsection 6 of the Financial Bylaws it states that:
“Each and every club/organization shall solely host a minimum of one (1) on-campus
event per semester that is funded, in whole or in part, by the Student Activity Fee.
Failure to do so will result in a loss of Line Budget Status. Exceptions will be made if
the club/organization requires an off-campus venue to conduct its activities that relate
to its constitution.”
As a result of this violation, as Treasurer of the Undergraduate Student Government, I have hereby removed these clubs from line budget status permanently. This means that the club will no longer have an allocated budget to spend and will not be able to apply for a line-item budget next year.
If you would like to this decision appeal to have your club's budget reinstated, you are required to fill out the attached application and send it back to me. Your appeal will require a two-thirds vote of the filled seats of the Senate. As part of the appeal process, you will also be granted a new budget that will determined by the Senate.
